Best Buys - January 2022

I always love the “Things I Bought This Month” posts from other bloggers. It’s the same as looking at what is in their shopping cart as they pass by me at the store or peeping at someone’s nightstand on IG.

What I Bought This Month

This month saw more home purchases than past. We moved into our new home recently, so there are plenty of finishing touches that I am excited to share. I also have a lot of easy DIYs planned so keep an eye out for that. And by easy I don’t mean ‘easy for the best DIYer that you see on HGTV’. Think more along the lines of DIY projects that you can achieve during naptime over a week.

Also on the list this month are some cold weather favorites. Yes, those words came out of my mouth. I hope to share our whole moving story, but for now I am focusing on keeping my Floridian babies from freezing during all this snowfall northern Virginia has seen this winter. I’m also focusing on how I can look less like a bag lady and more like an effortlessly chic mom at school pick up.

  1. Loloi Rug - Loloi rugs are the perfect modest price point. They look great, cover up all the stains that follow kids, and are a great quality.

  2. Mock Neck Sweater - I bought a turtle neck and it was just…bad. This mock neck provides great coverage for the neck without making me feel like a lollipop. Runs a bit oversized - I wear a small.

  3. Dropps laundry pods - I am always looking for sustainable household items and this is my favorite by far. I swear the laundry has never smelled so fresh. Plus, its plant based and comes in low waste packaging.

  4. Leather tissue box cover - (say this in a Chandler voice) Could tissue boxes BE any less appealing? These leather boxes make a household essential less of an eye sore.

  5. Canvas - I loved the earthy colors in this canvas, but I loved that it goes beautifully with the Loloi rug above. It’s dreamy - trust me!

  6. Dimmable lamp - Don’t let this unassuming lamp fool you, it is versatile. I ended up putting these on the side tables in the primary bed, but I also tried them on the dining room buffet and the foyer table and they looked perfect in each spot!

TIP: purchases like these are perfect because once I decided to swap the primary bedside lamps, I know they have multiple places in which I can repurpose them + don’t forget you need dimmable bulbs too

  7. Cuticle care stick - The cold air has been rough on my hands and feet. Applying this cuticle balm every other night right before bed has reinvigorated that delicate skin.

  8. Cardigan coat - This is the perfect layer to throw over monochromatic sweats to add some pizazz to an otherwise basic outfit.

  9. It Ends With Us - This might be my favorite book of all time. The whole time I was wondering who it was going to end with per the title of the book, and that moment did not disappoint.

  10. Kids snow pants - I struggle to find pants that will fit both my boys - one is long and lean the other is big and tall. These pants hit the mark and are great for playing in the snow.

  11. Stair organizer - We didn’t have bedrooms upstairs in our old house, so I wasn’t aware of how much stuff would have to go up the stairs on a daily basis. This organizer gives us a place to keep it all and it doesn’t fall off the stairs. Shout out to Arin Solange at Home for this idea!

  12. Cube ottoman - This is a great accessory for our home. Right now it is in the living room, but it could be used as a stool for a vanity or side table too.
